10 Ways to Entertain Guests at Your Wedding

There are so many ways to make your wedding unforgettable and fun, and plenty of options no matter what your wedding vibe or budget is. This can be done through the decor, theme, dancing, and of course reception activities. Having activities during your reception is one of the most overlooked parts of wedding planning, but also one of the most important. This keeps your guests entertained while you are off taking bridal portraits, or even talking to other guests.

Every couple has different priorities for their wedding day, and if you are reading this I can only assume that keeping your guests entertained is a priority for you and your partner on your wedding day. So if you are overwhelmed and not sure what would actually be cool to have at your wedding for guest entertainment, do not worry I got you. Listed below are 10 easy ways to keep guests entertained at your wedding, that are equal parts memorable and fun. Trust me when I say, people will not be able to stop talking about your wedding.

Set Up Lawn Games

This can include giant connect four, giant jenga, horse shoe, giant chess, cornholl, etc. There are so many options for this one, and the possibilities are endless. Just think of games you guys love to play and find a lawn friendly version of it. Target and Amazon both have great options if you’re looking to buy new, or you can even borrow games from friends and family.

Ax Throwing

This is probably one of my favorite things I have seen at a wedding, and let me tell you ALL the guests loved it! (Including grandparents!) There are so many companies that will come and set everything up, show guests how to play, and even help keep score when multiple people are playing. And they usually have liability waivers ready to go, so that is one less thing you have to worry about.

Party Games

Plan different party games that everyone can get in on! This is such a fun way to involve everyone and keep them laughing, and having a good time. This can include the shoe game, where the wedding couple has to vote on which statement applies to who by raising that person’s shoe up in the air. You can play trivia, where each table is a team and everyone is answering questions about the couple. And if you have a very lively crowd, you can always have a dance-off to get everyone off their feet and onto the dance floor!

Drag Queen Performance

This will be a show stopper for sure! Hiring a drag queen to perform, or even MC your wedding reception will keep everyone on their toes and laughing all night long! Bonus points if the drag queen is also an amazing dancer, and willing to get out on the dance floor with your guests.

Flash Tattoos

Either real or temporary, demanding on your vibe! Lot’s of tattoo artists will set up a mini flash sheet with a few easy designs that they can give to you guys and guests. Or, you can set up a station with temporary tattoo options and paper towels/water to apply them with. While real tattoos are super cool obviously, temporary ones are definitely more family friends- that is probably something to think about if going this route!

Live Painter

I love this option because it is something your guests can look at and be a part of throughout the wedding day and get to see the progress of the painting. From watching set up, to seeing the progress checks throughout the reception to the end of the night. Another fun idea is to have someone drawing quick sketch portraits of your guests during the reception, then they wil have something to take home and remember your wedding by!

Have Signature Cocktails

And name them after something that is important to you guys as a couple! Like your nicknames for eachother, your pets, your favorite places to travel, etc. A bonus tip is to have a non alcoholic option to make sure that even those who can’t or don’t drink have something fun to sip on too!

Hire a Live Band

This isn’t me saying that having a DJ won’t be absolutely poppin, but there is something about a live band that just gets EVERYONE moving! Plus they can add so much fun energy by interacting with the dancers, and playing songs they know will get everyone up and moving!

Bounce House

Not only are bounce houses super fun to play in, but they are also a perfect photo opt for some non traditional bridal portraits! If you are having a family friendly wedding, they are also perfect for keeping kiddos entertained and busy while their parents are mingling with the other adults. Plus, let’s be real, they’re also so much for people of all ages.

Have a Photo Booth

Thi is such a fun option, that also doubles as wedding favors for guests! You can do a little retro style one that gives photo strips. (who remembers these from malls?!) Or even do a silly one with props for guests to wear in the photos! The possibilities are endless which makes this super easy to customize to your wedding style.

I hope these help you come up with some ideas for your wedding reception celebration! No matter what you choose it will be absolutely perfect for your wedding day, and will keep your guests having an amazing time!
